What is TKTV?
TKTV is a collection of fan sites for television shows. It's also a site all about television, from the fan's point of view. I'm a big fan of TV, but I don't actually work in the industry.
Why is it tktv.net instead of tktv.com?
Well, .net seems friendlier. That, and some guy in California owns tktv.com and was trying to sell it through some domain vending company and I couldn't bring myself to buy it from him.
Who are you?
My name is TK (that's pronounced "Teak"). I'm 26 years old, and I've been working on the web since I was in college. I live in New York City, and I hang out in a bar called the Stoned Crow (of which I also own part). I play pool, drink cider, and watch my favorite television shows by taping them so that I can go out at night. I have worked at a few different web development firms, most of which are now defunct, including Interocity and methodfive. Before that I worked at the NYU Center for Advanced Technology.
Why are you so obsessed with television?
When I was a kid, my parents had a rule: only a certain number of hours of television a week. They were trying to get me to do more active things with my time, but what they ended up doing was making me value television even more highly because it was so rare. I have always loved television. I remember how devastated I was when I realized that I had been watching "Brady Bunch" reruns my entire childhood and that the original show had actually gone off the air before I was born. I remember when "21 Jump Street" premiered and I skipped dinner to watch it and my mother yelled at me that I couldn't live my life around television. I remember staying home sick from school and watching eight straight hours of television, painting each of my fingernails a different color and suffering through soap operas I didn't follow just so that I could leave the TV on. Okay, I'll stop, but you get the point.
